Please use this page as a reference for the available traits and rarities of Mothcat MYO Slots.

Types of Rarities

See also: Make-Your-Own Slots (Mothcats)

Common

Also known as Classic traits, the standard Mothcat appearance is based off of a combination of real-life cats and moths. Traits will generally get rarer as the they stray further away from the original concept of moth-cat hybrids.

Certain traits, like leafy antennae and wings, are so widespread that they are considered common traits despite not being a natural trait seen in regular cats and moths.

Rare

Traits based off of other real-life animals or considered "unique/luxury" traits in real cats often fall under the rare trait category. Mothcats exist all around the world of Falena and evolved to adapt to their environments. In some cases, these traits were applied to them by fairies or witches seeking to create a new look for their companions.

Ultra Rare

Traits that are elemental or considered high luxury fall under the ultra rare category. In general, elemental traits are very unstable and most Mothcats who are born with them do not survive past kittenhood. Mothcats with elemental traits are very rarely seen and over time have come to exist only in legends. (Note for Misa... maybe make the elemental trait blurb a separate page on its own.)

Exclusive

Exclusive is a blanket term for traits unavailable to MYO slots. Also called Legendary or Illegal traits, these traits are extremely unique and often times one of a kind. They are also used to describe the distinctive traits of other Mothcat breeds. Traits belonging to certain Mothcat breeds cannot be made with normal MYO's.

Applied

See also: Applied Traits (Mothcats)

Applied traits refer to traits that need to be "applied" via the Mothcats ARPG. Such traits include accessories, clothing, and special color effects.

While there are no color restrictions for Mothcat coats, traits that give "special effects" to a Mothcat's coat are limited. Certain visual effects, such as glittering and glowing, are considered applied traits and can only be added to Mothcats with special ARPG items or purchasable vouchers. In the past, such visual effects were considered rare traits, but due to various reasons, they are now application-only traits.

Antennae

Mothcats sport antennae similar to moths and other insects. These antennae are fully functional and act alongside Mothcat whiskers to help them detect changes in their surroundings. Mothcats with standard antennae are highly sensitive to their environment, while more luxurious antennae serve other functions... or may simply be there for decoration.

▶ TRAIT CHART
Trait Name Origin ("Type") Description
Common Traits

Original Classic Mothcat antennae are thin, feather-like protrusions. For simplicity, they are drawn as solid, elongated "footballs"; however, more realistic styles may draw them with the proper moth antenna texture as desired.

Generic simple leaf shapes are allowed for the common rarity leafy antennae. Please see this link for more details on leafy traits.

Common tier swirly antennae are relatively short. Please refer to the length diagram above for an explanation of antennae length rarities.

Q-Tip antennae only have tear-shaped ends. Please see this link for more details on q-tip antennae.

Rare Traits

Unlike classic antennae, these antennae heavily resemble the appearance of a bird feather. While they do not offer as much sensitivity as standard antennae, they are very attractive and popular among the wealthy. Different styles are available for feather traits which may affect rarity. Please see this link for more details.

The basic "flower-end q-tip" shape is the most common form of floral antennae. Different styles are available for floral traits, which may affect rarity. Please see this link for more details.

Any shape at the end of q-tip antennae which are not tear-drop shaped are considered rare, including but not limited to pom-pom shapes, round balls, stars, etc. Please see this link for more details on q-tip antennae.

Ultra Traits

Any type of "hard" horn is considered an ultra rare or higher. Horns are not natural among Mothcats and are often associated with "tough" elements, like rock. Their horns are magically enhanced so that they do not weigh down on their heads. Mothcats with horns are able to use them for fighting. They are also commonly found among Cursed Mothcats as witches prefer this more intimidating look for their companions. Horns after a certain length and of a certain shape are considered illegal. Please see this page for more details.

Similar to the horn trait, antlers are considered ultra rare or higher. Antlers are softer than horns and are often velvety to touch. They are also magically enhanced to be lightweight and can be used for sparring.

Leaves and fruit may grow on tree branch antlers. Depending on the Mothcat (or Mothlion), the leaves and fruit may change with the seasons. Tree branch antlers are magically enhanced to be weightless. They are not meant for fighting.

Any set of antennae can be multiplied for this trait, but the rarity will depend on both traits. (So having multiple sets is one trait, and the type of antennae will be another trait.)

Any type of stone or crystal falls under the crystal antennae category. Crystals can be any shape or color, but they need to be the same type of crystal for both antennae. The antennae may be asymmetrical.

Sometimes, Mothcats are born without antennae. It happens very rarely, though.

Exclusive Traits

Unicorn horns came from a fairy's love for the magical unicorn. Unicorns are constantly growing and need to be worn down to maintain their shape. They can be carved or decorated, as desired by the Mothcat or its owner. Unicorns can be used to stab the enemies of the owner.

Any other antennae trait is exclusive and cannot be made unless with permission from floramisa. If you have any suggestions or questions, please contact her on dA or Discord.

Ears

While most Mothcats have common, triangle ears, it is said in ancient times that fairies experimented mixing other animal traits into Mothcats. Such experimentation led to Mothcats born with the ears of other animals. These traits are hard to find among bred Mothcats, as even in the wild, they are rare. Mothcats with other animal-like ears tend to be shunned by other wild Mothcats, thus they prefer to live alone.

▶ TRAIT CHART
Trait Name Origin ("Type") Description
Common Traits

Original Most Mothcats have ears that are small and triangle-shaped.

Original While most modern Mothcats are kept as household pets, feral Mothcats still exist in the wild. They are most easily identified by their tipped (tufted) ears. Not all tuft-eared Mothcats are feral, however. Mothcat breeders have successfully bred the gene into some of their luxury Mothcat lines to make them look more "wild" and "exotic."

Rare Traits

Mothcats with bat ears have ultra sensitive hearing and can identify even the slightest movements around them. They are not very fluffy, unfortunately.

These big ears are very soft and fluffy, much like their fennec fox inspirations.

These ears are long and thin. Mothcats with rabbit ears are often mistaken for rabbits, themselves.

Unlike folded ears, these ears naturally curl backwards.

Humans bred for fluffy ears that vaguely resemble butterfly wings.

Ultra Traits

These ears don't come to a point, they are perfectly round like a teddy bear's.

These rabbit ears flop down, unable to be held upright.

A rare mutation can cause a mothcat's ears to fold forward. Some affected kittens don't display this mutation until they're grown.

Sometimes the mutation leading to folded ears only affects one of a mothcat's ears, leaving the other upright.

It took the fairies a few tries to figure out how to give mothcats the gift of flight; these feathered wing ears are a remnant of some of the earlier attempts.

Click to enlarge. Extended Papillon (New!)

For when papillon ears aren't fluffy enough.

Exclusive Traits

If it's not listed above, it's illegal. Stay out of trouble, kids.
