Member ranks define how active and well-trusted a Mothcats member is in the community. All members start unranked and begin climbing ranks from there. As of August 2017, the Mothcats ranking system has been revamped.

Existing Ranks
These are the existing ranks (priority listed in ascending order):
- Unranked - All members start at this rank.
- Trainee - Members participating in the Mentor Program have this specific rank.
- C
- B
- A
- S
- S+
- S++
These ranks act independently from staff ranks; however, staff members receive waivers depending on their positions that count towards rank promotions.
Promotions
Members can only gain one rank at a time (i.e. a member cannot skip from rank C to A).
Rank C
Obtain this rank by meeting at least two of the following requirements:
- Creating a Mothcats Bank account and associated journal
- Own at least one (1) Mothcat
- Earn at least one (1) event sticker
- Earn at least one (1) Patreon sticker
Rank B
Obtain this rank by meeting at least two of the following requirements:
- Successfully graduate from the Mentor Program
- Own at least two (2) Mothcats
- Complete at least five (5) quests
- Earn at least five (5) non-Patron stickers
- Earn at least three (3) Patreon stickers
Rank A
Obtain this rank by meeting at least three of the following requirements:
- Own at least five (5) Mothcats
- Earn at least ten (10) non-Patron stickers
- Earn at least five (5) Patreon stickers
- Complete at least ten (10) quests
- Save up at least 100 Copper Flower Tokens
- Become (or have been) a Member of the Month
- Own at least one Mothcat of the Month
Rank S
Obtain this rank by meeting at least four of the following requirements:
- Own at least ten (10) Mothcats
- Earn at least twenty-five (25) non-Patron stickers
- Earn at least ten (10) Patreon stickers
- Complete at least fifty (50) quests
- Save up at least 1000 Copper Flower Tokens
- Become (or have been) a Member of the Month
Rank S+
This rank is awarded to notable members who have shown to be strong positive forces in the group by floramisa .
Rank S++
This rank is awarded to outstanding members who have contributed above and beyond to the group by floramisa .
Staff Waivers
Members who volunteer as staff members receive waivers for rank promotion requirements.
