DISCLAIMER! A Mothcats.com account is required to participate in the Mothcats ARPG. In addition, all participants automatically agree to the Species Terms and Conditions. Cheating and failure to comply with these terms will result in an automatic ban from the ARPG.

Accessories are items that a Mothcat or subspecies can wear, including but not limited to hats, scarves, necklaces, bracelets, glasses, etc. They must be officially obtained and equipped before a Mothcat or subspecies can be depicted with the accessory. Once obtained, accessories can only be modified through crafting at the Mothcat Market.

Clothing Slots

Clothing / Accessory Slot

In addition to crafting, custom accessories can be obtained by using a clothing/accessory slot. These slots are wildcard items that allow the user to design any type of clothing or accessory item for use in the ARPG.

To activate the slot, visit the Inventory and Bank Kiosk and fill out the proper form. Include a visual image of the accessory or clothing item you'd like to "create" so that the admins can identify it in the future. This image will not be added to the database, so it does not need to be a specific size, only clearly show the accessory. The image may be of the accessory being worn so long as it is clearly visible and identifiable.

Once the slot is activated, the accessory is locked and cannot be changed. Removing the slot from a Mothcat's inventory will reset the slot and allow it to be reused. Once a slot is removed, the former accessory is no longer usable until another clothing slot or crafted accessory is attached.

All custom accessories must be drawn by the user, a friend, or commissioned. Official Mothcats Artists are no longer responsible for drawing custom items.

The following artists have volunteered to draw custom items for members who cannot find anyone else to do so (this resource should be used as a last resort): fanface

Bags & Containers

Additionally, clothing slots may be used to "create" bags or similar wearable containers that contain small, miscellaneous items. The guidelines for this are as follows:

  • A single bag may contain a single "lot" of small, miscellaneous items that are either:
    • of a uniform type-- for example, assorted herbs, berries, and other plant parts
    • or have a uniform purpose-- for instance, adventuring supplies-- provided some elaboration on what the objects themselves would be. For instance, a compass, map, and rope would fit the example purpose.
  • None of the objects "created" this way may be accessories.
    • You may store accessories as well, but each must first be crafted or created with a separate clothing slot! Do note that this is purely a "flavor" choice, and the only ARPG requirements for doing so are that any accessories be attached to the owner of the bag.
  • Additional lots of miscellaneous items-- again following a uniform type or purpose as outlined above-- may be added to a bag using an additional clothing slot per lot.
    • Up to two additional lots may be added to an individual bag.
    • A single bag must always contain all the lots associated with it.
      • As with all accessories created with clothing slots, these are static and lots may not be "changed out" without detaching and/or attaching slot(s).
      • If such functionality is desired, an "identical" bag may be created with additional clothing slot(s) to achieve the appearance of changing the contents of the initial bag.

Equipping And Unequipping Accessories

Once you have obtained an accessory, it must be equipped before it is considered official for a Mothcat or subspecies to use it. Accessories must also be unequipped before they can be traded or sold.

  1. Open the Inventory/Bank Updates Kiosk.
  2. Fill out the form provided and reply to the correct comment.
  3. A market runner will approve or deny the transaction.
  4. If denied, correct the errors pointed out by the market runner.
  5. If approved, update your bank according to this procedure.
  6. Update the applicable Mothcat or subspecies ID card to reflect the new accessory.
